Resources

Guides for teachers running eVivas, and the documents a school needs before adopting one. Everything here is free to read and free to share with a colleague.

Getting started

The two things a teacher does in their first week.

Creating an eViva

Setting the questions, choosing prep and response times, attaching referenced work, and sending the links to a class.

In preparation

Reviewing and grading an eViva

Working through the review queue, writing feedback, recording the Understanding judgement, and returning it to the student.

In preparation

Running eVivas well

Written for the questions teachers actually ask once they have run a set and are deciding what to change.

Writing questions that are hard to fake

Why questions about the pupil’s own submitted work outperform recall questions, with worked examples across subjects.

In preparation

Access arrangements

Extra time, audio-only responses, and pre-set retakes. What eViva records, and the reason for a provision that it deliberately never holds.

In preparation

Follow-up eVivas

Asking one pupil a second question about an answer they have already given, and when that is fairer than re-running the whole thing.

In preparation

For your school

What a head of department, a DPO, or a procurement panel asks for. All of it is published, and none of it needs a sales call.

Introducing eViva to a department

A short brief for the colleague who has to explain why the department is running oral defences at all.

In preparation

Data protection and compliance

The documents a data protection officer asks for are published in full on the compliance page: the data protection impact assessment, the processor agreement, the privacy notice, and the list of sub-processors. No sales contact is needed to read any of them.

Something missing?

If you needed a guide that is not here, say so and it will be written. Email support@eviva.tech or use the contact form. Requests from teachers using eViva in a live classroom go to the front of the queue.
